You can now use the OBJ.LIST function to perform spontaneous discovery and analysis of unstructured data. The OBJ.LIST function returns a table of metadata and ObjectRef values for files stored in Cloud Storage, and does not require you to create a persistent object table. This feature is generally available (GA).
