Every CircleCI releaseSmarter Testing is now generally available
Smarter Testing is now generally available for all Cloud customers. Since beta, teams have used test impact analysis, dynamic test splitting, and automatic rerun of failed tests to run fewer tests, run them faster, and get signal sooner, while maintaining full confidence. What’s included Smarter Testing is a comprehensive set of testing capabilities.
Machine Runner Orchestrator Release 1.0.1
New Run runner VMs on spot nodes to cut compute costs, without failing jobs when a node is reclaimed. Set runner.enableUnsafeRetries on a resource class, and a job that is still running when its VM shuts down is retried on another VM instead of failing. The job restarts from the beginning, so only enable it for jobs that are safe to run more than once.
Runner Release 3.1.13
Machine Runner: Run machine runners on spot or preemptible instances to cut compute costs, without failing jobs when an instance is reclaimed. With the new runner.enable_unsafe_retries option, a job that is still running when the runner receives SIGINT , SIGTERM or SIGHUP is retried on another runner instead of failing.
Introducing Gen2 Arm Resource Classes (Beta)
Gen2 Arm resource classes for Docker and Linux VM / Remote Docker are now available in Beta on CircleCI, delivering priority access to newer-generation Arm CPUs that are up to 94% faster than gen1 for your Linux workloads, at a lower credit cost.
The CircleCI plugin for JetBrains IDEs: watch, debug and manage your runs without leaving the IDE
The CircleCI plugin for JetBrains IDEs is now available on the JetBrains Marketplace . It brings your CircleCI runs, jobs and config into IntelliJ IDEA and the other JetBrains IDEs, so you can see what CI is doing and act on it without switching to the browser.
Teardown now available for run steps
For customers needing cleanup work to run no matter how a job ends, we now support teardown steps. Add a teardown list to any run step, and CircleCI runs those steps at the end of the job, including when the job fails, is canceled, or times out.
Approve or cancel on-hold jobs directly from Slack
Slack notifications for on-hold workflows are now actionable. When a workflow is paused at an approval job, the Slack notification includes Approve and Cancel buttons, so you can act on it without opening the CircleCI web app. The buttons appear in both project channel notifications and direct messages, and each action asks for confirmation before it runs.
Deprecation of v1 and v1.1 Trigger and Rerun APIs, February 1, 2027
CircleCI is retiring 10 legacy v1 and v1.1 API endpoints used to trigger and rerun builds. They will be removed on February 1, 2027. This extends the date previously communicated by email (November 1, 2026). After that date, requests to these endpoints return HTTP 410 Gone.
Also shipped on Oct 13, 2026
CircleCI in October 2026What's included:
- Three training methods: Supervised fine-tuning (SFT) , direct preference optimization (DPO) , and reinforcement learning with group relative policy optimization (GRPO) . Each method trains a low-rank adapter (LoRA) or the full model weights. Custom loss functions : Train with any objective you compute in PyTorch from the model's log-probabilities.
The AI.AGG function is generally available (GA)
The AI.AGG function is generally available (GA). You can use this function to semantically aggregate unstructured input data based on natural language instructions.
BigQuery generative AI functions now support the gemini-4-argon model
BigQuery generative AI functions now support the gemini-4-argon model. This model is generally available .
Gemini 4 Argon in CodeMender (Preview)
CodeMender now supports Gemini 4 Argon. To use it, pass --model gemini-4-argon to cm find , cm verify , or cm fix . Gemini 3.8 Flash remains the default model. For more information, see Specifying the model .
Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini 4 Argon Cyber Permissive
Gemini 4 Argon ( gemini-4-argon ) is available in General Availability (GA) . Gemini 4 Argon is Google's frontier model that excels at deep work in complex, real-world tasks across domains including coding, finance, legal, cybersecurity, and science.
On-demand state repartitioning is now generally available
On-demand state repartitioning is now generally available. You can resize the number of shuffle partitions for a stateful Structured Streaming query or Lakeflow pipeline without losing checkpoint state. See On-demand state repartitioning for stateful streaming queries .
