Every GitHub Copilot releaseGemini 4 Argon in GitHub Copilot
Gemini 4 Argon, Google’s newest frontier model, is now generally available in GitHub Copilot. It is designed for complex coding, agentic, and reasoning tasks. In early testing, Gemini 4 Argon solved more tasks than previous Gemini models on every coding benchmark, with its largest gains in Copilot CLI.
Enterprise managed settings enforcement updates
Enterprise administrators can now require supported GitHub Copilot clients to retrieve current server-managed settings at startup instead of relying on a cached policy. We are also adding minimum client version requirements to governance-focused managed settings keys over time, starting with the sandbox key.
HydraFusion updates and new Max option
HydraFusion has an updated model pool, improved orchestration workflows, and introduces HydraFusion Max. Both HydraFusion and HydraFusion Max are available across VS Code, the GitHub Copilot app, and GitHub Copilot CLI and remain in research preview.
Copilot CLI 1.0.98
2026-10-14 Add support for Gemini 4 Argon Command hooks complete reliably even when child-exit signals are lost under Node MCP status and /mcp commands stay synced to the active session after split-view session switches Resuming a session now respects abandoned pending-permission work and continues only active permission requests.
Client telemetry user attribution and configurable capture
Enterprise administrators can now use telemetry in managed settings to attribute GitHub Copilot activity to a user without collecting their prompts, responses, or tool content. The telemetry.capture.identity setting adds three attributes to OpenTelemetry (OTel) data: user.name : The authenticated Copilot account name, currently the GitHub login.

Agentic autofix for code scanning alerts general availability
Agentic autofix for code scanning alerts is now generally available. It remediates alerts by working across your codebase the way a developer would: it explores relevant files, proposes a fix, and reruns CodeQL to confirm the fix closes the alert before opening a pull request for your review.
Also shipped on Oct 13, 2026
GitHub in October 2026What's included:
- Three training methods: Supervised fine-tuning (SFT) , direct preference optimization (DPO) , and reinforcement learning with group relative policy optimization (GRPO) . Each method trains a low-rank adapter (LoRA) or the full model weights. Custom loss functions : Train with any objective you compute in PyTorch from the model's log-probabilities.

BigQuery generative AI functions now support the gemini-4-argon model
BigQuery generative AI functions now support the gemini-4-argon model. This model is generally available .
Gemini 4 Argon in CodeMender (Preview)
CodeMender now supports Gemini 4 Argon. To use it, pass --model gemini-4-argon to cm find , cm verify , or cm fix . Gemini 3.8 Flash remains the default model. For more information, see Specifying the model .
Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini 4 Argon Cyber Permissive
Gemini 4 Argon ( gemini-4-argon ) is available in General Availability (GA) . Gemini 4 Argon is Google's frontier model that excels at deep work in complex, real-world tasks across domains including coding, finance, legal, cybersecurity, and science.
On-demand state repartitioning is now generally available
On-demand state repartitioning is now generally available. You can resize the number of shuffle partitions for a stateful Structured Streaming query or Lakeflow pipeline without losing checkpoint state. See On-demand state repartitioning for stateful streaming queries .
